Compassionate Hands On Treatment For Chronic Pain

About Richmond Myofascial Release, LLC
Richmond Myofascial Release, LLC is operated by Kenna Cook, LMT (they/she), practitioner of myofascial release (MFR) as taught by John F. Barnes, PT. With a deep understanding that our bodies hold the stories of our lives, they approach every session with care and curiosity, working with the intention of letting each individual’s unique story unfold at the pace dictated by their body. Never rushing, never forcing—just patiently listening and facilitating. Kenna graduated from Lotus Professional College in 2019 and is licensed through the Virginia Board of Nursing. While attending massage school Kenna had her first JFB MFR treatment which was nothing short of life changing and they knew this was the path they would pursue upon graduation.
Do you have a “straight-jacket” feeling in your body? Have you tried other treatments and nothing seems to touch your pain, or the results don’t last? If so, John F. Barnes myofascial release is exactly what you need. This specialized therapy can treat chronic pain from current or past injuries, scar tissue, hypermobility, headaches and migraines, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, menstrual pain, scoliosis, sciatica, whiplash, acute or chronic stress and trauma, and so much more. Available by appointment only in Richmond’s Fan neighborhood.
FAQ
How is Barnes MFR different?
Barnes takes into account the whole person, not just the symptoms. Instead of using excessive force to release restrictions in your fascia the therapist uses TIME – at least five minutes of sustained pressure to allow your body to release when it is ready to. This allows the results to last much longer than with other therapies.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a continuous network of connective tissue that provides structure and support to every other structure and system of the body. From head to toe it directly links your muscles, blood vessels, nervous system, bones, etc. Pain in one area may be due to a restriction somewhere else. This is why we think of the whole person.
